Karen & Ali chose the glamorous Hotel Cafe Royal in Central Londons. A 5 star hotel close to Mayfair and Soho, it has been delighting guests for 150 years.
A wedding at this luxurious location is the height of London sophistication. Guests can be wowed by the incredible gold and mirrored Pompadour Suite before relaxing on the terrace and watching the whole of Regent Street waft by.
A chic and beautiful day awaits you.
Bridal preparations in style
Karens day began with her friends and family in their suite. The hotel looked amazing on this warm September day while I took the opportunity to photograph the wedding dress, shoes, rings and flowers.
Karen’s makeup artist was busy finishing her stunning natural makeup and hair.
I took reportage photographs in the background, capturing the fun and laughter as it happened. As Ali arrived at the hotel, Karen was nearly ready for her groom .. just the wedding dress, veil and she was escorted down the grand staircase by her father.
Pomp and ceremony
As they entered the Pompadour Suite, Ali was understandably tearful seeing his bride walk down the aisle towards him. They were overjoyed to see each other and exchanged loving glances as the registrar conducted the official ceremony. They made their vows and exchanged rings under the watchful eyes of their guests.
Signing of the register was the final official duty of the ceremony, before they walked back up the aisle showered in confetti.
The afternoon reception began in the Oscar Wilde bar one floor down. It’s an incredibly luxurious mirrored and gilded room and their singer seemed perfectly fitting as the guests filed in to congratulate and hug the newly weds. A few canapes later and they were ready for their couple portraits.
Together at last
I look Karen and Ali to some carefully selected locations around the hotel and we had fun while they spent some together as man and wife, enjoying each others company before making their way back to the room for evening reception.
Their guests were already waiting for them as they entered to rapturous applause. They took their seats and then the speeches began. They had chosen to have quite a few speeches and it was fantastic to capture the expression of joy, laughter and pure emotion as they heard what friends and family had to say.
The final duties of the day were to cut the grand wedding cake and perform their first dance for their guests, who quickly joined them to dance the night away. Congratulations guys – a truly fantastic wedding day!
