Leigh & Ben chose the luxurious Astley Bank Hotel for their beautiful and fun pre-christmas winter wedding. It was a pleasure to photograph there.
I joined Leigh early on as she was preparing in the four poster bridal suite with her bridesmaids. Makeup and hair were expertly created while I spent time photographing her dress, shoes and jewellery, which were ready to produce the outfit which would see her married.
Downstairs the groom, groomsmen and guests had started to arrive. They were treated to warming mulled wine and, uniquely, amazingly tasty pasties! I love it when people inject something a something different into their wedding day!
As the father of the bride waited patiently outside, his daughter was helped into her dress and veil by the bridesmaids and in just a few minutes, after documenting the final touches, they were ready to walk down the aisle to Ben. After the vows, exchange of rings, a few tears and a sealing kiss, they were married and it was time to enjoy the rest of the day!
I relaxed into the background a little to catch reportage photography of the guests chatting and catching up, but soon it was time to take the couple for their portraits. The weather was having a wet half hour, so we started indoors, using some of the stunning windows, before moving outdoors for a final few wedding photographs.
And on to the evening!
The wedding breakfast was the next part of the day and the room looked incredible with fairy lights throughout. The two birds on top of the cake added to it’s sweetness. After a rapturous applause for their entrance, they enjoyed a tasty meal before the speeches.
What a fantastic set of speeches too! The room hardly stopped laughing for the whole half hour. Good job guys! Next up on their agenda was a sparkler shot, which had been much discussed during the day. I know Leigh was excited about this shot and I was happy to capture so much fun and emotion on their faces.
Finally, they chose to lead their guests onto the dance floor with a first dance before they and their guests relaxed together for the rest of the evening.
